When it comes to staying off the grid and having your privacy protected from international law, you really can't go past the Swiss.
Switzerland has a long history of respecting privacy and has established a legal framework to protect it via their Federal Constitution. It's clear that the fresh-faced folk at VyprVPN (under the umbrella of Golden Frog GmbH) are passionate advocates of a secure and open Internet experience being a fundamental right.
Don't know the first thing about VPNs? Let's take it back a step and cover the basics
VyprVPN offers decent performance too, thanks to an impressively wide network of servers and locations. Better yet, none of these are spoofed virtual servers, nor are they run by third parties who could compromise your privacy. A bunch of lesser data-encryption services like to crow about being number one in the market. VyprVPN is actually good enough to be within grasping distance of the crown.

There are many reasons why the Internet is littered with positive reviews of VyprVPN (and why this very article is going to be thrown onto the same pile). First of all, it's great to be allowed nine devices per subscription, though this plus is tempered by a minus – only three may be on VpyrVPN simultaneously. After trawling my way through competing services, I've come to expect five as the bare minimum (you'll be hit with premium rates to get that privilege here).
While we're getting the few downsides out of the way early, it also has to be said that I expected more payment options and a lengthier money-back guarantee period. A rival operating at the same tier, like PureVPN, will let you pay with everything short of seashells, and what you're paying per month is quite a bit lower (and can be refunded within 31 days).
That said, I still think you're getting what you pay for here, purely in terms of transparency, reliability and download speeds. It features the minimum creature comforts I expect from a service, including a kill switch to ensure you're always kept obfuscated from your ISP and an auto-connect to ensure you don't forgetfully boot up and browse unprotected. Vypr's wholly owned and operated servers also offer beefy 256-bit encryption and a NAT firewall for that little bit of extra protection.
Better yet, Vypr's proprietary apps are pain-free and a cinch to use. Beginners can wander in and be off the grid and leaping geofences like a pro in no time. Pleasingly, the advanced tab is also more comprehensive than most data-encryption providers I've sampled. Suffice to say, if you do know your way around an OpenVPN config there are tons of options available to ensure you have a better means to adapt and wiggle around any future countermeasures set up by streaming companies.
You have two flavours to choose from: VyprVPN and VyprVPN Premium. The standard service can be billed month per month for US$9.95 or yearly for 12 payments of $5. The swanky premium service can be $US$12.95 per month or 12 payments of US$6.67. The extra monies will bump you to five simultaneous device connections. You also get access to your own CloudVPN server and means to better outwit geoblocks and censorship via Chameleon Protocol.
You're only getting three payment options here, which is restrictive considering there are rivals out there who offer hundreds. VyprVPN lets you sign up via six major credit cards, Alipay and PayPal.
The platforms supported are pretty standard when compared to other providers:
MacOS, Windows, Android and iOS are available. Mind you, VyprVPN goes the extra mile by offering support for Boxee (think select HDTV set-ups) and Synology NAS (network attached storage devices).
You can expect to take advantage of server clusters in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania (700+ servers in total). That said, these clusters are in 70 locations – a lot of other VPN services boast over 100.
