    • Vodafone 4G
    • Contract 24 month
    • $5/day international roaming
    • Includes 2GB bonus data. Offer ends 27.12.2016
    • New phone every year deal
  • Roaming charges
  • International call rates

  • Free international calls. On all but the entry level plan, Vodafone gives you 120 minutes for calls to a number of popular international destinations.
  • $5 Roaming. Rather than pay an inflated rate for data, calls and texts while overseas, Vodafone offers flat rate roaming using your existing inclusions on a Red plan for $5 per day.
  • Pro. Data Workout. The first two months of a Vodafone contract give you unlimited data with no cap to get a feel for your usage of the service.
  • Family sharing. If you pool Vodafone Red plans, each additional plan in a pool generates an extra 500MB of data to use between all shared devices
  • Entertainment packages. Red plan customers get their choice of a 12-month subscription to one of the Sydney Morning Herald or The Age online news sites, music streaming service Spotify or video streaming service Stan.

  • No 700Mhz 4G. Vodafone is the only of the big three Australian telcos with no 700Mhz bandwidth holdings, which somewhat limits the scope of its 4G services compared to Optus or Telstra. (We explain this in more detail here.)
  • No free zone for entertainment. The 12-month free deals only cover the access costs of the services, not their data usage. For the SMH and the Age that's not likely to be a big problem, but if you like music streaming or especially video streaming, it would be easy to quickly go over your allocated quota, especially after the first two months.

Who this plan would suit

Vodafone's Red plans are a particularly good fit for travellers or those with overseas business or personal contacts who they call regularly, thanks to the inclusion of international calling minutes and very simple to operate roaming schemes. The very top tier also offers a lot of data for those who want to work exclusively from a mobile Internet connection.
