Vodafone picks up Huawei Mate 8 in Australia
Huawei’s latest large screen phone will be available outright or on contract from Vodafone next week.
Huawei announced the Mate 8 back at CES, but at that time it didn’t have a specific Australian launch plan or pricing to announce. What it did have was European pricing at 599 Euros, which suggested launch pricing here of around $980 once GST was taken into consideration.
Huawei Australia has announced actual launch pricing and availability for the Mate 8 at a slightly cheaper $899 outright through direct retail from 26 May 2016, or as a launch exclusive through Vodafone on a range of contract pricing. At launch Vodafone indicated that it will be available on a range of plans starting at $55 per month, but it has yet to announce full specifics of all the Mate 8’s plan variants. We’ll update our Mobile Phone Finder with the full details when it does.
The Mate 8 is a large 6-inch "phablet" style phone that follows on from the generally well received Mate 7 phone which was similarly on the bulky side. Here are its core specifications.
