Vodafone adds bonus data to prepaid recharges for a year

Until early 2017, score an additional 2GB of data for every recharge above $40.

Vodafone’s latest deal for its prepaid mobile customers focuses on additional data if you’re prepared to recharge at least $40 each time. Unusually, this isn’t a deal that just runs through for a month or two, but is instead set to run throughout all of 2016.

The only catch here is that you’ve got to sign up for or recharge on a Vodafone Combo deal worth $40 or more before 26 January 2016. Do that, and every time you recharge you’ll get an additional 2GB of data through to 25 January 2017.

What that does is open up a fairly wide data gulf between the entry level $30 recharge tier and the higher cost $40 and $50 tiers. Here’s how the plans now compare with the 2GB data bonus included.

It is worth bearing in mind that Vodafone's expiry period is only 28 days, so you would end up with potentially 13 recharges through this period rather than 12 for a 30-day plan. Vodafone also notes that the bonus data "may" take up to 72 hours to be applied to a qualifying plan, so it would be wise to limit your usage immediately after a recharge to avoid running out of regular usage data.
