As New South Wales celebrates freedom with the easing of some restrictions across the state Virgin has launched its "Plan your escape" sale. A clever name directed at people keen to travel after 3 months of lockdown.
Let's take a look at which seats are on offer:
- Fly Sydney to Coffs Harbour from $49 one way between 11 November to 15 December 2021, 12 January to 6 April, and 27 April to 23 June 2022.
- Fly Sydney to Ballina Byron from $49 one way between 1 November to 15 December 2021, 12 January to 6 April, and 27 April to 23 June 2022.

Intrastate travel between Greater Sydney and the regions is expected to resume when the state reaches the target of 80% double vaccinated currently projected to be 25 October.
How good are these Virgin sale fares?
Virgin has stepped up for Freedom Day. The airline announced its return to Coffs Harbour last week dropping flights from Sydney to Coffs from $45. These fares are $5 more than they were during that sale but still beat the next cheapest airline Rex (flying from $99) by 50% (as compared with KAYAK).
On the Sydney-Ballina Byron route, $49 is a price we usually only see during Virgin's weekly Happy Hour sale. It narrowly beats Jetstar's price ($53) by a few dollars.
Good news for Velocity frequent flyers, all flights until 31 March 2022 will earn double status credits, that's a great opportunity to attain the next status or help you retain your current status.
