Virgin Mobile's contract plans are best suited if you want a phone without the upfront handset cost.

The plan values below reflect just the cost of the SIM; a handset will attract a different cost depending on which device you choose. You can see how the recharge tiers affect value using the selector below.

  • 4G Capability. Virgin Mobile is a subsidiary of Optus, so it’s no surprise that it offers access to all of Optus’ network capability.
  • Data rollover. Virgin Mobile is quite unique in that it’s the only contract mobile phone provider that allows you to roll over unused data from one month into the next.

  • Limited data rollover. Virgin Mobile’s data rollover only persists for the next calendar month, and the data is only used if you’ve exhausted your new month’s quota, so you can’t build up a large pool of data.
  • Bonuses limited if you’re on an Optus MVNO. Virgin Mobile’s signup bonuses are frequently limited to those switching from other networks (which is to say, on Telstra or Vodafone networks), but not other providers on the Optus network. So if your MVNO is Optus-based, you won’t get some special deals.

Who these plans would suit

Like parent company Optus, Virgin Mobile offers a wide variety of current model handsets in the budget, mid and premium range with the backing of a solid 4G network behind it. They are often quite competitive on price terms even with Optus itself, so it is well worth making the comparison to get the best deal on a contract phone.

      Hi Tilottama,

Unfortunately, Virgin Mobile only offers 24-month contracts with the iPhone 6s Plus. I would recommend buying one outright and going on a 12-month SIM-only plan.
