Virgin Essentials Travel Insurance Review

Looking for affordable travel cover? Consider Virgin Essentials Travel Insurance to protect the essentials.

When you are packing for a holiday you have to make constant decisions between what you want to take and what you really need to take. When you overload your luggage with a whole lot of items you’d like to take but in reality will probably not have a chance to use on your trip, you will find you cost yourself more in excess baggage allowances, not to mention the cost to your back in lugging that extra luggage.

Your travel insurance can be much the same, because you can feel as though you should add every little extra to your policy that you can, but the more you add, the more it costs you in your premium. However, as you start looking at what you can leave behind in a travel insurance policy, you may start thinking that the decision between your cream, white or off-white jackets would be an easier one. That is why Virgin have made the decision of what you really need in travel insurance easier for you, by creating a package with just the essentials, to make sure the cover is affordable for you to put in place, while keeping you protected while you travel.

Thanks for your question. Virgin Travel insurance Travel Delay will reimburse the cost of your reasonable additional meals and accommodation expenses if a delay to your journey, for at least 6 hours, arises from circumstances outside your control. The benefit is capped at $2,000. There are various terms and conditions relating to this cover, which can be found in the product PDS.

hello i was just wondering hypothetically.. if during my trip i cannot fly for a week due to a medical reason does this mean my final flight home will be covered for a date change so i can still have the same amount of days in that final destination as originally planned? thank you for any advise you can give me

      Hi Heather,

Thank you for your enquiry. Just to clarify, do you mean that once you were fit to travel again, you would not fly home but extend your trip so that you could spend the same number of days in the destination even though you were fit to return home following your illness?

Cancellation cover will cover the necessary expenses incurred as a result of events that are outside of the policyholders control. Cover will not be provided for any cancellation that has occurred as a result of a pre-existing medical condition.
