Tasmania flight sale takes off with new Virgin Australia routes
Virgin has launched 2 new routes this week that will help reunite families for Christmas.

It's been a big week for flights to Tasmania with Virgin Australia announcing not 1 but 2 new routes departing for the Apple Isle.
Virgin first announced direct flights from Adelaide to Launceston on Tuesday (7 September) followed by today's announcement of the first-ever direct flights between Perth and Launceston.
As is customary, to celebrate the new flights Virgin has dropped flash sale fares. Fly from:
- Adelaide to Launceston from $79 one way, between 11 October to 6 December 2021, 12 January to 6 April 2022 and 2 May to 22 June 2022.
- Perth to Launceston from $149 one way, between 5 November to 10 December 2021 and 10 January to 30 January 2022.
These new fares can be booked now alongside Virgin's massive "Anywhere but here" sale.
Book flights to Launceston and the other 27 destinations now with Virgin Australia.
Both new routes will run 3 services per week with a capacity for 4,200 travellers a month.
"We're continually looking at ways to pivot and expand our network schedule where free movement of travellers across borders permit, so we're incredibly proud that by working with Launceston and Perth airports we've been able to launch direct services between the cities in time for the busy Christmas holiday period," said Virgin Australia Group chief strategy and transformation officer, Alistair Hartley.
How good are these Virgin sale fares?
Virgin is the only airline flying direct to Launceston on either of these routes. From Adelaide, indirect flights start from around $104 one way while from Perth indirect flights start from around $249 (as compared on Skyscanner).
While these routes are discounted travellers should end up saving at least 25% and 40% respectively.
These Tasmania flights are on sale until 11:59 AEST 10 September 2021, unless sold out prior.
