Best hotels in Hoi An, Vietnam

Hoi An is home to an array of sights, which luckily for you are within walking distance from most hotels. Just north of Minh An we have found the Hoi An Historic Hotel which is a 15-minute walk from the furthest attraction. The hotel is in close proximity to the Hoi An Market, the Assembly Hall of Fujian Chinese, Hoi An Ancient Town, Old House of Tan Ky, the Japanese Covered bridge, the Phung Hung House and the night market (also the furthest).

For some fun in the sun, you're a short 10-minute drive from the An Bang Beach. We suggest staying at the Aira Boutique Hoi An Hotel & Villa, An Bang Hideaway or the An Bang Seastar Boutique Villa.

The Vinh Hung Riverside Resort and Spa is located on the Thu Bon River. The night markets are only four minutes' walk and An Bang Beach is just 15 minutes away by car. The resort and spa is within 12 minutes (walking) of all the main city attractions.

Best hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

If you're after a walkable city then this is it. The main attractions are within close distance of each other so you'll find yourself saving money on those taxis. The Hotel Continental Saigon and the Rex Hotel both offer a 5-star experience and are in the great location of Ben Thanh. Ho Chi Minh City's main sights include the Opera House (which is the closest attraction – only four minutes from the Rex and just across the street from the InterContinental), as well as the Bitexco Financial Tower, Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon (we suggest checking out the Central Post Office while you're here) and the War Remnants Museum.

Backpacker Street is the furthest walking distance from the hotels at 20 minutes away. If you've got a few days in Ho Chi Minh City we recommend spending a morning at the Cu Chi tunnels. It's a 1.5-hour drive from the hotels but we do suggest visiting if you're in the area.

You'll find Hue in central Vietnam. The Le Robinet Homestay is located in Thuan Hoa, which is a 3-minute walk from the Imperial City, the Mieu and Dai Noi. The Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities is just on the other side of the Imperial City which is 17 minutes' walk away.

The Saigon Morin Hotel is just across the Perfume River and is only a 15-minute walk (or 3-minute drive) from the Imperial City and all its attractions. If you want to see the beautiful waterfront then you can't go wrong with the Saigon Morin.

Sights such as the Tomb of Tu Duc and the Royal Tomb of Khai Dinh King are outside the city and will require a 15- to 20-minute drive from the hotels.

Frequently asked questions about Vietnam accommodation

Where should I book a hotel to be near beaches in Vietnam?

If you've come to Vietnam for some sun and sand you won't be short on choice. You'll be able to find pristine beaches and clear waters in both northern and southern parts of the country.

  • Cat Ba Island: For those of you visiting the north, we recommend checking out Cat Co 1 and Cat Co 2 beaches which are located in the southern region of the Cat Ba National Park on Cat Ba island. The island is situated just off the coast of Hai Phong.
  • Central Vietnam: Da Nang and Hoi An are great places to stay as you have North Beach, My Khe Beach, Non Nuoc Beach, An Bang and Cua Dai Beach all within a short drive of each other.
  • Southern Vietnam: We suggest Thang Tam as you have Front Beach Park, Bai Dua and Back beaches all in close proximity. Nha Trang and Phu Quoc are also must-see destinations if you're visiting the southern side. Phu Quoc beach is located just off the coast, so spending a couple days on the island is recommended. The Eden Resort is a great hotel stay as its a few minutes from the beach. For some of the most pristine coastlines check out Suoi Nguon An Nhien near Bich Dam or Phan Thiet beach.
