From ancient temples and palaces to central markets and pristine beaches, Vietnam makes for the perfect holiday destination.
And what makes a great destination that much better? Hotels that make getting from A to B easier. All the hard work has been done for you as we've compiled our favourite stays based on location, walkability, rating and general convenience.
If you're heading to Hanoi then you're going to want to check out the architectural marvels that make the city so special. You'll find the Temple of Jade Mountain, St. Joseph's Cathedral, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hoa Lo Prison Memorial and the Thang Long Imperial Citadel within 35 minutes' walking distance (or a 15-minute drive) of the Sofitel Legend Metropole situated in the French Quarter.
For an impeccable stay on the West Lake and walking distance to the Tran Quoc Pagoda then the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake is an excellent choice. Wake up to beautiful views with your own balcony and a pool on site. Enjoy your stay in five-star luxury with both hotels.
Hoi An is home to an array of sights, which luckily for you are within walking distance from most hotels. Just north of Minh An we have found the Hoi An Historic Hotel which is a 15-minute walk from the furthest attraction. The hotel is in close proximity to the Hoi An Market, the Assembly Hall of Fujian Chinese, Hoi An Ancient Town, Old House of Tan Ky, the Japanese Covered bridge, the Phung Hung House and the night market (also the furthest).
The Vinh Hung Riverside Resort and Spa is located on the Thu Bon River. The night markets are only four minutes' walk and An Bang Beach is just 15 minutes away by car. The resort and spa is within 12 minutes (walking) of all the main city attractions.
If you're after a walkable city then this is it. The main attractions are within close distance of each other so you'll find yourself saving money on those taxis. The Hotel Continental Saigon and the Rex Hotel both offer a 5-star experience and are in the great location of Ben Thanh. Ho Chi Minh City's main sights include the Opera House (which is the closest attraction – only four minutes from the Rex and just across the street from the InterContinental), as well as the Bitexco Financial Tower, Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon (we suggest checking out the Central Post Office while you're here) and the War Remnants Museum.
Backpacker Street is the furthest walking distance from the hotels at 20 minutes away. If you've got a few days in Ho Chi Minh City we recommend spending a morning at the Cu Chi tunnels. It's a 1.5-hour drive from the hotels but we do suggest visiting if you're in the area.
You'll find Hue in central Vietnam. The Le Robinet Homestay is located in Thuan Hoa, which is a 3-minute walk from the Imperial City, the Mieu and Dai Noi. The Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities is just on the other side of the Imperial City which is 17 minutes' walk away.
The Saigon Morin Hotel is just across the Perfume River and is only a 15-minute walk (or 3-minute drive) from the Imperial City and all its attractions. If you want to see the beautiful waterfront then you can't go wrong with the Saigon Morin.
If you've got the time we recommend visiting Thien Mu Pagoda which is a short 8-minute drive from the Le Robinet and 10 minutes from the Saigon Morin Hotel. Sights such as the Tomb of Tu Duc and the Royal Tomb of Khai Dinh King are outside the city and will require a 15- to 20-minute drive from the hotels.
If you've come to Vietnam for some sun and sand you won't be short on choice. You'll be able to find pristine beaches and clear waters in both northern and southern parts of the country.
As Vietnam is a very coastal city, finding a villa is not an impossible task. If it's something that you're after we recommend staying in one of the many villas located in Hoi An. We recommend checking out the East West Villa, Hoi An Village Villas and Orchid Garden Riverside.
These sites let you make a refundable booking for your trip to Vietnam, so there's less risk of losing the cost of your stay or deposit. Some sites only offer free cancellation on select Vietnam hotels or at a slightly higher rate, so it's best to check the terms on your booking before confirming your stay.
Most sites, like Wotif or Expedia, will clearly state whether each Vietnam hotel is non-refundable.
Using one of our coupon codes at these sites will save you money on your Vietnam stay. Some may ask you to pay for your stay upfront rather than on arrival in order to apply the code to your Vietnam booking, but the same cancellation policy does apply so if you are able to cancel, you'll be able to get refunded.

Products marked as 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle.
