Veritaseum is a software protocol that offers a peer-to-peer (P2P) network for capital markets. Marketed as “the gateway to peer-to-peer capital markets”, the platform was first founded in 2013 by Reggie Middleton, a serial entrepreneur with extensive knowledge in fintech and cryptography. To overcome the limitations of centralised banks and financial institutions, Veritaseum allows any two or more individuals to transact directly, without the need for traditional components such as legacy credit. Through blockchain technology, smart contracts, and distributed computing, counter-party risk can be reduced and those interested in the capital markets can overcome high levels of economic friction, high economic rents, and gross inefficiencies that occur within the traditional marketplace.
According to the project’s website, Veritaseum is a piece of software and a collection of smart contracts that are processed via the blockchain. Any asset can be converted into a cryptocurrency and then exchanged between two anonymous parties, with the freedom of cutting out the traditional middleman. Expanding on this premise, the Veritaseum ecosystem now includes a digital exchange, token rental facility, portfolio manager, smart arbitrage system, research modules, and the option to tokenise assets.
VERI is the native cryptocurrency of Veritaseum and is primarily used to pay for all products and services within the ecosystem. VERI token holders can apply the token within Veritaseum software to access advisory services, detailed research, the P2P value trading system and P2P letters of credit.
