Verasity is a blockchain protocol and product layer platform designed for esports and the video entertainment industry. It is a platform that seeks to combine the best elements of crowdfunding, advertising and subscription on-demand services. According to the whitepaper, Verasity looks to increase the revenue of content creators and video publishers while also incentivising viewers to watch videos online through its native VeraPlayer. The Verasity blockchain uses a patented Proof of View (PoV) protocol to ensure only organic views are rewarded. This ensures value stays within the community rather than losing it to outside third parties. VRA is the native token of Verasity. VRA tokens are earned every time a content creator produces a video and every time a viewer watches or shares or video. Users are also rewarded for watching advertisements. The protocol’s PoV eliminates shady tactics that may be deployed to earn VRA tokens unfairly, like bots, repeating videos, looped videos or having multiple videos opened on different tabs. Once a viewer receives VRA tokens they can either convert them to cash, vouchers, or other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ether. The tokens can be also be used to pay for goods or services directly on the websites of Verasity’s partners.
