4 points for every $1 dollar spent, plus more rewards.

Velocity frequent flyers can earn double points when shopping online this month, as well as 20% off selected gift cards.

The bonus offer applies to items purchased from selected electrical retailers (plus a handful of others) via the Velocity eStore by 30 June 2016. This means you'll earn 4 points for every dollar spent, which is a much better rate of return than you'll usually enjoy.

Participating retailers include Microsoft, HP, Lenovo, Dell and Style Thread.

Points will be approved and loaded to your account within 30 days of purchase.

Velocity members will also receive 20% off when redeeming frequent flyer points for selected gift cards through the Velocity Rewards store. You'll need to use the coupon code SALE20 when checking out. This offer is valid until 10 June 2016.

As is usually the case, there are a bunch of conditions which are worth bearing in mind. Gift vouchers and gift cards from Virgin Australia (including lounge), Virgin Australia Holidays, and Virgin Limited Edition are excluded and deliveries will only be made to a physical address in Australia. Post office box addresses for deliveries won't be accepted.

While taking flights and using reward cards remain the best way to maximise your frequent flyer balance, online shopping points can be a useful supplement. Check out our guide to earning Velocity points for more tips. It's always worth keeping an eye out for special offers for major boosts; last month, for instance, Virgin was offering 50,000 bonus points for customer referrals.
