How to get 10,000 Velocity Points with Virgin Australia’s Christmas offer

Earn a bonus for shopping with partners including flybuys, BP and the Velocity eStore.
Here's one of the more generous and easy-to-achieve offers Points Finder has seen: up to 10,000 bonus Velocity Points for shopping through some of Virgin Australia's online retail partners. That's a really easy way to boost your points total and achieve your frequent flyer dreams sooner:
To take advantage of the deal, first activate the offer online at the Virgin Australia site. Then shop to earn points with any of the following Virgin partners between 20 November 2018 and 8 January 2019:
- flybuys
- Velocity eStore
- BP
- Autobarn
- Virgin Wines
- Wilson Parking
- Sendle
- Onsport
- Midas
- Skybus
If you shop at three of those partners before the January 8 cut-off date, you'll earn 2,000 bonus points. Up that to four and you'll get 5,000. If you spend at five, you'll get the full 10,000 points. Make sure you've entered your Velocity number at each site so you earn points and your purchase counts towards the promotion. Remember that merely shopping with flybuys won't count; you'll need to actually redeem some flybuys points as Velocity Points to qualify. At BP, you'll need to swipe your Velocity membership card to earn points on petrol purchases.
As a rule of thumb, you should get at least $20 of value from each 1,000 points. It doesn't make sense to spend money purely to acquire points, but with this offer it should be possible to align this with your normal spending anyway. Indeed, given that 10,000 Velocity Points should give you at least $200 of value, you could make cheap purchases (like iTunes digital content through the Velocity eStore) to help reach that goal.
Handily, flybuys is also offering a 15% bonus on transfers during November, so if you take advantage of that, you'll already have one partner covered and score some more points in the process.
THE POINTS FINDER TAKE
If you're actively earning Velocity Points, this is a very easy way to boost your total and shouldn't require you to spend needlessly to reach the goal.Latest Points Finder headlines, tips and guides
