Vaya alters plans with price cuts and more data
Vaya’s latest change to its plans cuts most plan prices, or adds data while altering plan names.
Vaya has announced a wholesale set of changes to both its Power Plan and Unlimited Plan SIM-only offerings, generally cutting prices by $2 on most plans, or adding data to some. It has also ever so slightly renamed plans to reflect size rather than monthly costs, so that plans that were once "Power Plan 28" are now "Power Plan L" for example.
The changes are a little convoluted depending on which tier you look at, with some plans taking a price cut, some plans getting additional data and one plan taking a price hike, but in return for quite a lot more data.
Here are how the old plans -- marked as such, and you won’t be able to sign up to them -- compare to the new plans for calls, texts and data.
|Power Plan 18 (Old)||$18.00||1.5GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Power Plan S||$18.00||1.5GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Power Plan 22 (Old)||$22.00||2GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Power Plan M||$20.00||2GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Power Plan 28 (Old)||$28.00||3GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Power Plan L||$26.00||3GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Power Plan XL||$34.00||7GB||$650 Calls||Unlimited|
|Unlimited 24 (Old)||$24.00||1.5GB||Unlimited||Unlimited|
|Unlimited 28 (Old)||$28.00||2.5GB||Unlimited||Unlimited|
|Unlimited 34 (Old)||$34.00||4GB||Unlimited||Unlimited|
Vaya's plans compare in an interesting way to new parent company amaysim; the deal to buy Vaya was only announced at the start of the year, but both play in the MVNO space on the same network (Optus 4G). While it announced no immediate changes to Vaya's plans when the deal was announced, it did state it hoped to get more favourable terms due to its own larger footprint. It's feasible these new plans are a result of a better deal.
