Beauty product of the week: USPA Age Defying Elixir
A thirst-quenching serum for dry skin that needs a little extra TLC.
Why we love this product
As someone who has always been pretty lazy when it comes to skincare, this face oil has changed me and my skin. My skin has always been flaky, red and extremely dry. I have bumpy red patches around my jawline and cheeks and my skin often feels itchy and tight, especially during winter. And although I do moisturise regularly, I’d kind of resigned myself to having this skin forever.
Enter USPA’s Age Defying Elixir. It’s a blend of oils that aims to boost, revitalise, nourish and balance stressed-out skin that’s done it tough from harsh environmental factors like sun exposure and dry wind.
Although I’m still pretty young and not too worried about ageing skin just yet, the ingredients in this oil are perfect for anyone who’s skin is tight and dry and just needs a little extra TLC. The Evening Primrose Oil is perfect for healing redness and roughness and it’s even recommended for sensitive skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. As someone who has suffered from eczema in the past, this was music to my ears.
It’s also got Rosehip Oil to encourage the regeneration of skin cells and damaged tissue, and Camellia Oil, which is meant to soften and smooth your skin and aid in the healing of scars. As it happens, I am trying to heal and minimise a deep scar on the tip of my nose. I was keeping the scar moisturised, but as my skin is very prone to redness, I’ve basically been looking like Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer for the last few of months.
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been applying around three to four drops of the Age Defying Elixir to my face every morning and evening (although sometimes it is only once a day) and massaging it into my skin. I’ve also been applying an extra drop or two to my scar and massaging that into my nose. Although it is an oil, it’s really not oily. It takes a few moments to settle into your skin, but once it’s absorbed, your skin just feels nice and soft.
The results? Well, they’re actually pretty amazing. My skin has never felt so soft and smooth. The redness that I’ve always had around my jawline and cheeks has faded and the bumpiness has subsided. My scar is looking much smoother and less-visible. Plus, the angry red colouration on the tip of my nose has evened out. Honestly, I just can’t stop touching my new smooth skin.
The only slight downside is the scent. The rose and sandalwood is fine but I’m not really a fan of the licorice-y smell of the fennel.
This serum will cost you $75 for 30mL. While this is a lot for a little bottle of liquid, you’re only using a few drops every time, which means that it should last you a fair while. And I’m just so happy with my skin at the moment that I’m definitely sold.
