  2. Provide documentation. Depending on the type of claim, you’ll be asked to submit documentation to prove theft, loss, damage or ownership of goods, as well as medical reports from medical professionals and written statements from transport providers.
  3. Cooperate. Besides being honest in your declarations, you must also refrain from admitting fault in the event of an accident, loss or damage. You must first consult with Allianz before agreeing to pay or compensate anyone.

Under 30’s FAQ

Q. Who can apply for these policies?

  • A. Under 30’s policies are available to travellers aged between 16 and 29. As long as you are an Australian resident and your journey begins and ends in Australia, you are eligible to apply.

Q. I’m going on an Australian cruise. Which plan should I choose?

  • A. Travellers on domestic cruises in Australian waters should select the Pacific plan so that cover is available for emergency medical assistance and hospital expenses.

Q. How is my premium calculated?

  • A. The amount you pay in premiums depends on the level of risk you represent to the insurer. Factors such as your age, your destination, the length of your journey and  optional extras determine the price of your policy. Government charges and service fees are also added to the overall price.

Q. What about pre-existing medical conditions?

  • A. The medical insurance provided by the policies only covers unforeseen medical conditions. The insurer may be able to cover an existing medical condition, but you must submit additional documentation and pay an extra premium.

Q. Can my policy be extended?

  • A. Cover can be extended free of charge, but only under certain conditions that prevent or delay your return to Australia. Otherwise, you have to submit a request for an extension at least 24 hours before the policy expires and pay an additional premium for the new Certificate of Insurance.

Q. Who is Under 30’s Underwritten By?

  • A. These policies are underwritten by Allianz Australia. In an emergency, you will be assisted by Allianz Global Assistance (AGA).

Q. Can I cancel my Under 30’s policy if I’m not happy with it?

  • A. You have a 14-day cooling off period during which you can cancel your policy for a full refund, provided you haven’t left on your trip or filed a claim.
