Unbelievable hotels: Hotel Costa Verde
The ultimate treehouse getaway is a remodeled plane that sits high up in the trees.
Hotel name: Hotel Costa Verde
Where: Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
What’s unique about this property: Situated in a coastal rainforest bluff, Costa Verde offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and of the neighbouring Manuel Antonio National Park. But it’s not the views that are so special about this incredible and luxurious island retreat, it’s the one suite in the trees that brings most people to this tropical paradise.
Nestled among the trees is a converted vintage Boeing 727 frame from 1965.
The frame pokes out of the canopy of trees for views that make you feel like you’re flying. Inside the 727 is a 2-bedroom suite with hand carved teak furnishings from Java, Indonesia.
A kitchenette and ensuite bathrooms are also included plus an outdoor terrace that overlooks the ocean. You’ll feel like a movie star when you walk up the spiral staircase from the private entrance to this unbelievable accommodation.
What is there to do in the area: At Costa Verde you’ll find yourself among monkeys and other wildlife so you can experience the biodiversity of the rainforest. Activities include ziplining, dolphin catamaran sailing, surfing, fishing, waterfall rappelling, white water rafting, sea kayaking, horseback riding, parasailing and more.
Plus there are tours of the Manuel Antonio National Park and yoga classes on-site.
