From Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, you should be able to find flights for $300-$400 for return flights to the Red Centre including Connellan Airport near Ayers Rock and Alice Springs Airport. Prices are likely to be the lowest flying with Jetstar.

Those flying from Perth can expect to pay $700-$800 for return flights as you'll need to connect through a city like Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney.

These prices are for flights during the low season and outside of a flight sale. If there's a sale like Jetstar's return for free deal, you can find flights for about $100 less than noted above. If you're hoping to go during peak season, expect to pay $100 extra or more.

How far in advance should I book my flights to the Red Centre and Uluru?

According to Kayak's Uluru flights pricing data, prices tend to be the lowest about 45-55 days in advance of your trip.

If you're hoping to go sooner than six to seven weeks from now or are a last-minute planner, don't fret. Prices tend to drop again in the week prior to departure - just not quite as low as they would have been six to seven weeks earlier.

Where is the airport in Ayers Rock and Alice Springs?

If you're planning to visit Uluru-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, Ayers Rock Airport is the closest at just 8km from Yulara (where most accommodation is offered) and 25km from Uluru itself. Alice Springs Airport is just under 500km away from the national park. For those heading to Kings Canyon, again, Ayers Rock Airport is closer at just over 300km away while Alice Springs Airport is about 465km from the canyon.

For those heading to Alice Springs, an airport shuttle bus is available and offers door-to-door transfers to the city from Alice Springs. To reach Yulara from Ayers Rock Airport, you can take the free shuttle from the airport which connects to all Uluru hotels and camping grounds. Alternatively, you can take a taxi. Car hire is available from the airport terminals with options including Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz from Alice Springs Airport and Avis and Hertz from Ayers Rock Airport.
