Hi,
I am going to Fiji from 14/1/22 to 19/1/22 on holiday.
I am 70 years old and would like an insurance policy covering expenses for Covid 19. Please advise the best travel insurance.
Yours sincerely,
Marie
Hi Marie,
Currently, there are a small handful of brands that will be able to offer you COVID benefits with their travel policies. Each brand on this page includes some protection for some COVID-related claims.
At the time of writing, travel insurance with medical cover was mandatory for international trips to Fiji. Many providers do offer unlimited overseas medical cover – but be sure to read the policy terms with care so that you understand exactly what you’re covered for before you buy.

James
I have a westpac credit card that i use for all my travel bookings. This comes with travel insurance which at the moment is supplied by alliance. Do i need this extra insurance and if so what is the difference on a basic cover level.
Hi Robert,
Thanks for your inquiry.
The difference between credit card insurance and ‘extra’ insurance is:
1) What you are covered for.
2) What limits/ benefits are covered.
3) What rules apply in order to receive those benefits.
Please review our guide on credit card vs standalone travel insurance for a full comparison on these two products.

I would like to take out travel insurance for a trip overseas. I live in Australia but I am not an AUSTRALIA resident.
Is there any restrictions and am eligible to take out insurance via the companies on this site.
Hi Katie,
Thanks for getting in touch. Please head over to our non-resident travel insurance review page to find insurance policies for non-residents. You should find cover options available to you from the brands in our panel.
All the best,
Richard
Thank you for your response.
I am currently on a bridging visa awaiting my residency application. I am eligible for Medicare but have not got a Medicare card.
Can you confirm does this mean I should still purchase overseas visitor travel insurance or can I purchase the normal travel insurance that an Australian resident can purchase.
Hi Katie,
As you’ll be travelling overseas, you will still need the non-resident cover.
Cheers,
Richard
Will I be covered from when the payment is made
goes through
Hi Emma,
Thanks for your question. Your cover for cancellation etc begins once you have purchased your policy.
I hope this was helpful,
Richard
