When you are planning an exciting overseas holiday, the last thing you want to spend time doing is comparing travel insurance products. However, choosing the right travel insurance is just as important as choosing the best luggage or making sure your passport is valid. While you’ll be doing a lot of planning for your trip and none of it will include plans for time spent waiting around airports or in overseas hospitals, the reality is that accidents and delays can happen, but they don’t have to ruin all of those carefully laid plans.

I’m looking for insurance that covers me if I miss a flight or the flight is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances and therefore miss connecting flights as all of my accommodation and tours will be booked, so I cannot afford to be waiting in airports to find another flight.
This seems to be a common gripe on every travel insurance company that I’ve read reviews about.

      Hi Jullie,

      Thank you for your question.

Depending on your policy, you may have cover for missed flights provided you miss your flight due to an event listed in your TID product disclosure statement. These events may include a vehicle accident or severe weather, natural disaster, hijacking or strike.

Travel insurance does not cover missed connecting flights if the first transport carrier was late. Liability falls with the airline and it is their responsibility to arrange an alternative flight.

I am overseas at present and I want to purchase travel insurance for 2 Adults from 14 October to 1 November 2015. We will be in Spain and then fly to Muskat in Oman and then Dubai and then fly to Sydney. Do you have Travel Insurance for these countries and also can we purchase insurance whilst we are away already. Thanks Jan
