Fast facts about Hamilton Island and the Whitsundays

Where is it? Off the coast of Queensland, about half-way up the state. Airlie Beach is the closest mainland town, and where sailing trips and ferries depart from. Mackay is the nearest main city, just under two hours away.

How do I get there? There's an airport on Hamilton Island (Great Barrier Reef Airport), which is serviced by Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar. Whitsunday Coast Airport, in Proserpine on the mainland, also offers commercial flights from Jetstar, Virgin and Tigerair. Read more...
