Three-day long-weekend breaks you can still jump on.

Next Monday 2 October is Labour Day in New South Wales, ACT and South Australia, giving us all a well-deserved break as well as a three-day long weekend. If you haven't planned your trip yet, there's still time to snap up some last-minute deals.

Where are all the Aussies going?

According to Skyscanner, Aussies are keeping this long weekend well and truly local. Out of all domestic bookings made through the site departing on Friday 29 September and return Monday 2 October, 30% are to Melbourne. Most travellers headed this way are coming from either Sydney or Brisbane.

Sydney was the next hottest destination, boasting 17% of all domestic bookings made this weekend. Of this, the highest volume of came from Melbournians and Brisbanites.

This was closely followed by travel to Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth, suggesting we're seeking sunshine in spades.

We've also got our eye out for places that are going to be quiet on Monday as, aside from Sydney, none of these other cities are celebrating Labour Day on Monday.

With all this in mind, we scouted out the best deals you can book last-minute to some of these popular cities. We've also come up with a few cities you can travel to this weekend on the cheap that aren't on the list – because sometimes it's nice to go where everyone is not.
