We've done the hard yards for you and mined only the finest gems on the App Store, whether you're on iOS 8 or the upcoming iOS 10.

1. The Westport Independent

westport-independent
The Westport Independent is a censorship simulation game about running one of the last independent newspapers in a post-war country that is governed by the recently elected Loyalist government. As editor, you must decide what content your newspaper publishes and whether or not to edit the articles in order to fit a certain agenda. Your actions will affect the people’s opinion of both the rebel groups and the Loyalist government, which in turn, affects the world they live in. The Westport Independent puts the player in a world where their own social and political opinions are an important contributor to how they play the game. It also demonstrates the influence the media has over public opinion and how it can either reinforce or destroy governments.

5. Human Resource Machine

human-resource-machine

Human Resource Machine is a visual programming-based puzzle game. You play as a corporate office worker assigned to perform extremely mundane tasks. Each puzzle consists of the player creating a list of instructions to control the movements of their avatar and directing boxes from an inbox to an outbox. Over the course of their career, the player avatar gains new abilities that provide more instructions to the player. Though this does not seem like extremely exciting gameplay, Human Resource Machine operates as a visual metaphor for assembly language concepts. This game offers an interesting style of gameplay that takes inspiration from a low-level programming language for a computer. Not many games can say they do that.
