5 tips we’ve learnt from previous Boxing Day sales

BOXING DAY

Let our experiences guide you to get the most out of the Boxing Day sales.

We’ve learnt - sometimes the hard way - that navigating the Boxing Day sales can be tricky business. So allow us to be your guide to the sales, teaching you all the tips and tricks we’ve accumulated along the way. Trust us, we’ve been there. We’ve got you.

1. Take lists seriously

I can’t emphasise this enough - your list is your life. If you trick yourself into thinking you’ll be fine without a list and won’t go over budget, we can assure you that it won’t end up that way. You'd be surprised how quickly you convince yourself you "need" something you never ever thought about. Plan in advance and use our handy guide to choose your products in advance!

Be smart and learn from our mistakes, otherwise you’re going to have a pretty devastating Afterpay bill heading your way... An organised list will save you on this one - you won't regret it!

2. Go easy on the Christmas food and drinks

This one may seem a bit unfair - I can already hear you exclaiming “But Christmas is a time to enjoy those things”, and you’re not wrong. But if you’re serious about the Boxing Day sales, you do not want to wake up under the weather when you’re meant to be fresh and focused.

Enjoy yourself, but know your limits! If you're heading in-store you don't want to feel bloated trying things on, and those shopping centres always have fluorescent lights which can be tough to take.

3. Remember that shopping is cardio

You’ve probably seen this slogan across the front of t-shirts all over your local shopping centre, but it’s 100% true. If you’re gearing up to go to the Boxing Day sales, you should prepare physically the same way you would for an endurance run.

Get a good night’s sleep, stay hydrated and work on your arm strength - if you’re heading into the stores, you’ll be carrying an awful lot of bags.

4. Make a shopping playlist

This one might seem a little out of the ordinary but trust us, when you’re slogging through the last few sales of the day and you’re not feeling that energy - a good playlist to pump you up is critical. This works if you’re shopping online OR in-store, so there’s no excuse to get unmotivated and miss out on that one coveted item.

Upbeat songs with a belting chorus are sure to keep you going longer. Whether you go for a bit of Beyonce or feel like going for something a little more intense, keep yourself upbeat!

5. Have the right snacks

We’re always in favour of a sneaky snack mid-shopping session, but there’s an art to selecting the right one. Something to boost your energy without making you feel bloated or (the worst) get grease/oil on your clothes and face. Don't risk staining the clothes you try on, or getting your computer keyboard dirty.

Almonds and grapes are a great snack you can eat while you're shopping because they won't leave you feeling grimy or messy - and they'll fill you up!
