Tigerair launches Hobart-Gold Coast flights
Celebrating with $99 launch fares, naturally.
Today, budget airline Tigerair takes off on its inaugural flights between Hobart and the Gold Coast.
This makes it the first low-cost airline to offer direct services along this route and, in celebration, the carrier has $99 one-way Hobart to Gold Coast fares on sale until midnight 21 December. These are for travel between 11 January and 27 March 2018 only.
Outside of sales, flights along the route cost $135 each way.
Originally announced in late September, this Tigerair route operates four times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flights depart from Hobart at 8:50am AEDT and arrive on the Gold Coast at 10:20am AEST. The return leg departs from the Gold Coast at 10:50am to touch down in Hobart by 2:30pm.
With services on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, this gives travellers the opportunity to take off on a long weekend break on Friday or Saturday and return back Tuesday.
Gold Coast Airport chief operating officer Marion Charlton said: "The Gold Coast and Hobart are increasingly popular destinations and this new, direct link has arrived just in time for the summer peak."
This isn't the only reason the flights have been launched either, with the services arriving just in time to meet the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in April 2018.
In addition to this new route, Tigerair has also added four more return services to its Melbourne to Hobart route to meet the demands of the upcoming summer peak season.
