They are officially out of the terrible twos and are starting to develop their own likes, dislikes and interests. Therefore, buying for a three-year-old can be a little trickier as toddlers start to get picky.

But never fear because we've broken down the interests of three-year-olds and how to find them the perfect gift that they are bound to love!

Pedalling toys

By now, most toddlers are coordinated enough to start riding a tricycle or scooter. These are a great option to purchase for a three-year-old as they're a good stepping stone before a two-wheel bike. A tricycle will allow a three-year-old to work on their balance as well as strengthen their leg muscles. Just make sure you don't forget the protective gear too!

Musical toys

Three-year-olds are now starting to have a greater understanding of language. This means that they can really begin to enjoy music as they are able to retain songs as well as add their own movements. Instrument toys that reflect real-life ones as closely as possible are a great option and can introduce kids to the idea of learning an instrument for real.

Reading toys

At this age, kids are outgrowing board books and are able to comprehend deeper storylines. Therefore, a good picture book with an interesting story is a great option for a three-year-old.

It not only helps them to concentrate for longer periods of time but it encourages them to think about the storyline and follow along. Reading is also a great way to start expanding on their vocabulary and teach them things about the world through books.

Learning toys

Being preschool age, learning is about to become a very strong part of a three-year-old's day. They're like sponges and are constantly absorbing information. Therefore, learning toys are great to make the process enjoyable and fun. You can never go wrong with a good old memory game or even a toy cashier to introduce them to a little bit of maths.

Art is as much about the thought process and the development of fine motor skills as it is about exploring the senses, lengthening attention spans and building self-esteem. At this age, they can start exploring more art forms like clay, paint and collage. It's a great way to enhance fine motor skills and extend those attention spans while expressing creative emotions.

Of course, toddlers grow at a rapid pace. Their pants are becoming too short and tops are feeling a little bit snug. You can never go wrong with buying toddler clothes.

However, by this age, children are starting to grow their own personalities which include their own taste in clothes. Think about whether they prefer wearing pants or skirts and what colours they like. We all know if a toddler doesn't want to wear something, it's going to be a battle to get them into it, so get them something that fits their personality.
