It's a great week for deals in Australia. Not only do PlayStation and Xbox have an excellent selection of free games available this month, but both parties are running some excellent sales.

Every week, VG Finder scours the web for the week's best gaming deals. This week, Sony is bringing the east to the west with its Big in Japan sale and Xbox One consoles are selling like hotcakes with the announcement of the Xbox One S.

Another month, another selection of free PlayStation games for PlayStation Plus members. Bring it on.

Big in Japan sale

Oh, Japan. You create some of the most memorable and strangest things. Sony's "Big in Japan" sale is the perfect time to dive into the wonderful world of Japanese video games.

Famous franchises such as Dark Souls, Resident Evil, and Metal Gear have all received massive discounts. The sale is featured on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita consoles.

If you have the money and the hard drive space, then this sale is going to provide you with games until the rapture.

Steam, why do you treat us so well? What have we ever done to deserve this? Another day, another Steam offer you can't refuse.

The Bioshock franchise is one of the most popular franchises of the previous generation. It began in the Atlas Shrugged-influenced city of Rapture and concluded in the floating city of Columbia. Alongside an arsenal of weapons, players will also be able to use Plasmids, which grant the player with superhuman-like powers that will decimate their foes.

Steam is currently selling the Bioshock Triple Pack which comes for $12.21, which is a saving of $67.76. Or, you can purchase each of the games separately at a discounted price.

System Shock is a first-person action role-playing game released in 1994. The series garnered much love and its spiritual successor series, Bioshock, gained the same attention.

22 years later, Night Dive Studios are rebooting and reimaging the original System Shock. The developers are keeping everything that made the original game a classic while giving it a modern look and feel expected from games of this generation.

System Shock is currently in Pre-Alpha stage and a demo is free to download on Steam.

The Bioshock Collection for PS4 and Xbox One is now available to preorder at $59.99.

Xbox One

Everybody loves free stuff. Usually, if someone is giving something away for free it is generally not the best of quality. Services like Games with Gold hope to change that assumption.

To sway those undecided consumers and Sony purists, Microsoft is providing some bundle options that cater to money-savvy gamers.

Microsoft is currently selling Xbox One bundles as low as $399. For less than $400, you can pick up an Xbox One + FIFA 16 bundle or a Name Your Game Bundle, which gives you the choice of Rare Replay, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider or Forza Motorsport 6.

It's worth noting that you can also pick up a 1 TB Xbox One and an additional game for $499.

DOOM-93-HK (1)

Doom is a franchise that pioneered the first-person shooter and revolutionised the way we interpret video games. Fans love the fast-paced action and demon slaying the series is famously known for. After Doom 3, which departed from the franchise formula and focused on a more horror-centric design, fans longed for a return to the classic Doom style of play.

Doom 2016 delivers on these requests. No longer are you cautiously wandering down dimly lit hallways. Now, you are running at an insane pace and shooting hell spawn in the face with a double-barrel shotgun.

Target is currently selling Doom for $39.

If you're serious about your Doom set-up, ozgameshop is currently selling a special edition Thrustmaster Doom pack.

amiibo-dealNintendo Wii U

Many say that "variety is the spice of life." If we have many things to choose from then we can find the item that will best suit our needs.

That is why EB is currently selling a wide variety of Nintendo Wii U console bundles. All of the bundles come with a 32GB Wii U console, Nintendo Land, Game Party Champions and a starter pack for Skylanders: SWAP Force.

The variety resides in the fourth game. You can choose either Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade Chronicles X or Super Mario Maker with a retro Mario amiibo.

No matter which bundle you choose, the cost for them is the same. EB is currently selling these Nintendo Wii U bundles for $428.00.

Nintendo's entire marketing strategy is based on your nostalgia. It relies on you saying "I remember (insert classic Nintendo franchise here) from my childhood."

This is most prevalent with Nintendo's series of amiibo figures. They are mini versions of the most beloved Nintendo characters that, when placed on the gamepad, will come to life inside a variety of video games. In reality, they will most likely be strategically placed on your shelf and collect dust. I don't judge.

EB games are currently selling a range of amiibo figures for $8.98, which is a saving of $8.97.
