Departs from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to Europe's top spots.

Air China has extended its sale on 2018 Europe fares with flights from three Australian cities, namely Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, starting at just $839 return.

Originally on sale until 30 June, the airline has further extended its sale until 31 July with autumn and winter dates (1 October - 15 December) still available to snatch you away on a European adventure.

Flights are available to Barcelona, Milan, Athens, Rome and Paris with the cheapest journey being awarded to Melbourne to Barcelona at $839 return.

Other sample fares include: Melbourne to Milan from $855, Sydney to Athens from $879 and Brisbane to Rome from $895 return.

All fares come up under $920 return which is exceptional in almost any circumstance.

You have until 31 July to secure your seat though at these prices I'd probably be encouraging you to snatch them up sooner as you never know when the promotional seats will sell out. Get yours now through STA Travel.

Alternatively, check the table below for the cheapest flights on Air China available from your home city.

How good are these fares?

  • Price: Great. It's difficult to do better than $839 return unless you start turning toward budget airlines like Scoot that can get you in for under $600 return if you're willing to sacrifice baggage, in-flight meals and entertainment, and travel time.
  • Travel time: OK. All flights include a stopover in China which you can extend to score two holidays for around the price of one. This increases flight time, though if you play your cards right, transit time can be minimal.
  • Airline: Good. Air China is a full-service carrier, though only a 3-star one so while it's not heavily lauded in the industry, it's a far cry from budget.
  • Weather: Good. With such a large travel window you can see Europe during autumn and winter. Sadly late summer and Christmas dates are excluded from the sale, but when is that new?
