The Test

The Test follows the journey of the Australian cricket team after the South Africa ball tampering saga. Here's the release date.

Amazon Prime has today announced the all-important release date for the upcoming docuseries on the Australian cricket team. Officially titled The Test: A New Era for Australia's team, it's set to be released on 12 March 2020.

Interestingly Amazon Prime Video is holding off until Australia's summer of cricket is complete. A release in line with the holiday period and the Australia vs New Zealand Test series also seemed to make sense.

The docuseries is set to follow Australia's journey to retain The Ashes in England. It immediately picks up from right after the ball tampering incident in South Africa.

This looks to be a must-watch for Australian cricket fans, who'll get a behind-the-scenes look at what really went on behind closed doors.

It was not only cricket lovers, but the entire nation was absolutely outraged at the time of the scandal. Everyone had an opinion on it, from the local punter at the pub, right through to the then prime minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Along with announcing the release date, Amazon Prime also dropped a new trailer. The teaser begins with the triumph of Australia retaining The Ashes on English soil.

It then rewinds through the turmoil endured in the previous years. This includes the loss to India on Australian soil for the first time and the Cricket World Cup.

A notable omission from the trailer is footage of David Warner, who was the alleged ringleader of the fiasco. There's a lot of Steve Smith, including that fateful press conference that saw him break down in tears.
