The prestigious US Masters golf tournament returns to its traditional April timeslot. Who will win the coveted green jacket?

SUMMARY: The Masters is on 9Gem, Foxtel and Kayo Sports. For access to this golf major and 50 additional sports, you can take advantage of Kayo's 14-day free trial for new users.

This year's US Masters will feel strange without 15-time major winner Tiger Woods. The American is at home recovering from serious leg injuries sustained in a car crash in February.

It is still a star-studded field without the five-time champion. It includes defending champion and world number 1 Dustin Johnson, big bomber Bryson DeChambeau, 2013 champion Adam Scott, 4-time major winner Rory McIlroy and Spain's world number 3 Jon Rahm.

Along with Scott, the other Australians in the field are Jason Day, Marc Leishman, Cameron Smith and Matt Jones.

2021 US Masters schedule and information

  • Round 1: Starts 10pm AEST on Thursday 8 April.
  • Round 2: Starts 10pm AEST on Friday 9 April.
  • Cut line: The 36-hole cut line is the top 50 players plus those tied with the last group. The field this year will consist of 88 players.
  • Crowd: Spectators will return this year but in reduced numbers, with social distancing in place.
  • COVID-19 restrictions: The traditional par-3 contest has been cancelled for the second straight year.

Watch US Masters live and free

A secondary channel from the Nine Network, 9Gem, has some coverage of the tournament. You can also access more comprehensive coverage via Kayo Sports, Foxtel or Foxtel Now. Read on for more details. We also have an extended guide on watching this year's opening major championship.

Can I watch US Masters on free-to-air TV?

Yes. 9Gem has limited coverage of the first three rounds and then extended coverage of the final round.

Stream US Masters on Kayo Sports

If you want extended coverage of all four rounds, our recommendation is Kayo Sports. The purely sports streaming service has a 14-day free trial for new users.

Kayo Sports, Foxtel iQ and Foxtel Now will all have a range of viewing options specifically for The Masters. You can watch the usual coverage or there are featured groups, a dedicated stream for the famous Amen Corner and more.

Kayo also has a range of viewing features you won't find anywhere else. One of those is SplitView. Allowing you to watch up to four sports on one screen, it means you don't have to choose which camera or stream you want, you can have them all right in front of you.

Stream Kayo Sports for 14 days FREE and no lock-in contract

Who are the US Masters favourites?

Reigning champion Johnson and fellow American Jordan Spieth are favourites with the bookmakers. Last week Spieth won his first title in almost four years when he took out the Texas Open. He was runner-up in his Masters debut in 2014 and then won the green jacket the following year. He could've backed it up in 2016 before a back-nine meltdown.

US Open champion DeChambeau's big hitting will be a huge advantage in the 85th Masters. But this championship is usually decided on the lightning-fast greens. His poor showing here last November proves that power is only half the battle.

Smith will likely represent the best chance for the Aussie contingent. Last year the Queenslander became the first player in Masters history to shoot 4 rounds in the 60s as he finished runner-up to world number 1 Johnson.

US Masters breakdown

Who will win the US Masters?

We think new dad Rahm can finally break his majors duck and win this year's green jacket, despite his limited preparation. The Spaniard only arrived at Augusta on Wednesday after his wife gave birth to son Kepa on 3 April. But he will have a spring in his step and a new-found sense of calm, which is critical in one of golf's toughest arenas.
