The coolest video recording makeup mirror is coming to a store near you
It's called the Makeover Mirror and it can be used to record makeup sessions so you can see exactly how it was all done.
What's one of the biggest problems when getting your makeup done? Well, it's hard to learn how to recreate the amazing look the makeup artist put together. How are we supposed to remember the eyeshadow blending techniques when our eyes are closed for most of the session?
That's where the Makeover Mirror comes in, and its here to change the face of beauty retail. The mirror can be used by makeup artists in stores or at salons to video record makeup session so customers can review it later and see exactly how the look was put together. That's right. It creates a personalised makeup tutorial video just for you.
I got a chance to try it at the Online Retailer Expo & Conference last week. Your makeup session is recorded in sections, one recording for face prep, one for contouring, one for eyeshadow and so on. It makes it really easy to skip to different sections. The mirror also has the functionality to record what products were used and where. Once you're done, your recordings can be texted or emailed to you.
Imagine sitting down at the MAC counter and being able to review exactly how the makeup artist created your contour. And never again will you have to rack your brains for the name of that really pretty gold shadow the makeup artist used - the details will all be included in the video. Pretty nifty.
This piece of super-cool technology has been created by Intelliscape, a company which is also the brains behind a number of other innovations at the Online Retailer Expo, including a holographic ad space that uses facial recognition to create ads target to your demographic - seriously, it always changed to ads for diamonds and dresses whenever I walked by.
The Makeover Mirror uses a high-end light system that simulate natural sunlight to ensure your video is colour-corrected. It also has an adjustable light temperature that can re-create different light environments, so you look perfect on a sunny day, in the office or on a night out.
International department store Neiman Marcus currently has 60 of these mirrors throughout its stores and it won't be long before they hit an Australian store near you. Keep your eyes peeled for this one!
