The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s second DLC is out right now

Matt Sayer 8 December 2017 NEWS

How do you make The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild even better? By adding a motorcycle, of course.

Not content with merely bestowing awards and revealing new games, this year's The Game Awards show has dropped one of those always-exciting "and it's available right now!" bombshells with the announcement that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's second DLC pack is available to download right now. Yes, right now. What are you waiting for?

Well, given Nintendo has been rather evasive about what this second DLC pack actually contains, let's dig into what this new pack, dubbed The Champions' Ballad, gets you. Along with a brand new story encompassing Revali, Mipha, Daruk and Urbosa – the four champions who fell in defense of Hyrule 100 years before the narrative of Breath of the Wild began – The Champions' Ballad brings a host of new shrines with tougher puzzles to solve; plenty of new equipment to don including a bunny hat, a Ganon mask and royal garb; and what has to be the highlight of the DLC: a horse-themed motorbike to burn around Hyrule on.

Yep, an honest-to-god motorcycle designed to look like the skeleton of Death's horse – or something similarly hellish. I don't know what Miyamoto and his team have been fuelling themselves on over at Nintendo, but whatever it is, it's sure as hell working.

The Champions' Ballad is available to download right now for both Wii U and Nintendo Switch copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can't get the DLC on its own, unfortunately, so you'll have to pick up the season pass to get your hands on it.
