The Block recap: Cheaters never prosper (21.09.2016)
Foreman Keith had some harsh words for one contestant last night, and some lame jokes for another.
Someone on The Block was making noise after hours again last night. Foreman Keith’s draconian punishment seemed not to have sunk in, and Dan and Carleen had their tradies working an extra five hours after tools down.
Having already been the recipient of a hefty fine, Will was on the warpath. He did what any bold, courageous bulwark of fairness would do in the situation: he shot video and dobbed Dan and Carleen in the next morning. Will wasn’t the lone tattle-tale, though, with Andy and Ben registering a complaint as well.

For his part, Dan was entirely unrepentant. He copped a severe dressing-down from Foreman Keith, who went so far as to call Dan a cheat. Those are fightin’ words, so Dan naturally … tried to weasel his way out of the situation. When he got called on the carpet by Scott Cam, Dan tried every excuse he could think of before being hit with a $1,000 fine.
Dan wasn’t the only one in Keith’s sights. He went to visit his neighbours Andy and Ben and found they and their builders had been ripping their insulation batts in half. This is a big no-no as they need the full-width batts installed in order to get a sound-proofing sign-off. This meant that despite having the sheets up, Ben and his tradies had to rip it all down and install the correct thickness batts. But this presented another issue as the roof was on a slant and the thinnest part of the roof would not fit the full-width batts. Nothing seems to come easy on The Block.

While the batt debacle was playing out, Andy was out shopping for all the furnishings and styling for their living and dining room. As the budget was tight, however, he was only able to use the vouchers they had from the sponsors of The Block. Despite the tight budget, Andy still found some time to flirt with the shop assistant helping him pick out furnishings.
Meanwhile, Julia and Sasha’s troubles continued. As teased in the promos, Julia left The Block to spend some time clearing her head. Leaving The Block is the first actual decision Julia has been able to make. That’s progress.
Unfortunately, this left Sasha on her own to get all the work done in time for their room reveal on Sunday. While Julia is clearing her head, Sasha’s may explode.

Finally, Foreman Keith, ever the picture of levity and child-like mischief, decided to have some fun at the contestants’ expense. He and Foreman Dan tried to confuse Karlie and Will and Chris and Kim with some made-up builder’s jargon, telling them they needed to install a “column flange” and a “side gasket”. The two foremen couldn't make it through their little comedy routine without giggling and giving away the prank. It's good to know that if The Block doesn’t work out, Keith should have a promising career as the next host of Punk’d.
