The Block 2017 finds a home and a start date
After ongoing speculation, Nine has told locals the location and the date that filming will begin.
We can all now relax as the location of the new series of The Block has been confirmed and a start date set, according to TVTonight. It's been reported that residents within the vicinity of the vacant block at 46 Regent St, Elsternwick have been told that filming will begin on 27 April, with contestants arriving the next day.
TVTonight reported that the residents were sent letters by the production company with producer Julian Cress’s mobile number and a note to contact him if they had any concerns. The letters assured residents that noise would be minimised and all council regulations would be adhered to.
“There are no film trucks, gaffers or catering vehicles (the sort of vehicles you may normally associate with a film shoot) required for the production of The Block. The show is made in a documentary style by two-man teams that use hand-held cameras and sound equipment,” TVTonight quoted the letter as reading.
This confirmation of location and dates ends any speculation as to whether the production was going to take place at The Gatwick Hotel. However, this location may still be utilised for the 2018 series once the current residents have been relocated.
Residents of Elsternwick should be on the lookout for Scott Cam and Shelley Craft, as well as our favourite judges, Shaynna, Darren and Neale, from 28 April. We'll be waiting for the show to air later this year to give you our regular recaps of every episode.
