The search for sun is on—and from the sounds of these flight deals, the place to be is North Queensland.

Sorry, this sale is no longer running. Check our list of current flight sales to find a bargain!

Welcome to Paradise sales, Escape to the Sunshine sales and the Perfect Place for your Profile Pic sales are all happening right now on Virgin Australia, and Qantas.

Each of them features discounted fares to sunnier parts of the nation, though one place stands out as being a hot favourite for slashing fare prices.

That place is Townsville.

On the plus side, it is the cheapest one-way you can get to Townsville at the moment with Jetstar not currently flying a domestic flight sale.

If you need to include checked luggage and meals with your flight, it might be worth looking to an all-inclusive carrier to get you to Townsville instead. The good news is that both Qantas and Virgin Australia have slashed their prices to this destination.

Virgin Australia wins this round. Its Welcome to Paradise sale has fares as low as $119 each way between Brisbane and Townsville. It also has fares between Sydney and Townsville from $159 each way and Melbourne and Townsville from $199 each way.

Qantas isn't far behind with its Escape to the Sunshine sale though, and if you're a frequent flyer member looking to rack up those points, it might be worth shelling out an extra tenner to point build. Sample flights include Brisbane to Townsville from $129, Sydney to Townsville from $209 and Melbourne to Townsville from $209.

All three airlines have flights available from October to early December. Virgin Australia and Qantas are also offering flights from mid-January to March.
