Telstra’s latest MX plan gives you 12GB of data for $50
Get plenty of data on a Telstra SIM-only, online only plan.
Telstra has offered up its MX plans for some time now to customers after a SIM-only product who don't mind dealing with all their support issues online. In return for slightly fewer bells and whistles, Telstra has typically offered larger data inclusions on its MX plans than at the same price tier for its M plans.
Telstra's standard MX deal offers you a SIM-only 12 month plan at $50 per month with unlimited standard national calls and texts. In the SIM-only space, that's not particularly exceptional, but Telstra being the premium brand that it is, you also get a number of other inclusions along with your calls and texts.
You also get unlimited calls and texts to standard international numbers in China, India, UK, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, USA and Canada.
The MX deal also includes free access to Telstra Air, quota-free Apple Music streaming and a 200GB OneDrive subscription.
The current incentive to sign up is a very tasty 12GB of data to use every month. That's a 2GB bonus over the plan's usual inclusions, as long as you sign up before 4 September 2017.
That's all for a SIM-only plan, however, so bear in mind that you would need your own unlocked handset device to utilise the MX plan on. Telstra doesn't offer the MX deal as part of a handset contract bundle, because it's rather specifically targeted at users who only need a SIM and don't mind going entirely online for their support needs.

Can I keep my number that I have had for a while if I join up for the BYO MX 12GB plan?
Hi Christine,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Yes, you can keep your number when you switched network. The process of keeping your number is called mobile number porting. Please feel free to read more about number porting to learn more about how to do it, why you should do it, and other important details.
I hope this information has helped.
Cheers,
