Telstra has scored the exclusive on Google's new handsets in Australia.

Google's fresh off announcing its new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL handsets in San Francisco, and it's already opened up pre-orders for the new handsets for those keen on outright purchase. If that's you, you'll pay $1,079/$1,229 for the Pixel 2 in 64GB/128GB sizes respectively, or $1,339/$1,549 for the 64GB/128GB variants of the Pixel 2 XL. At the time of writing, Google's listing both handsets in all available colours as entirely sold out, although you can register for updates when new stock becomes available.

If the price point is too much for your wallet to bear, there will be an Australian carrier offering the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. As with the original Pixel, that's Telstra, with the carrier expected to offer the new handsets from 20 October 2017.

As yet, there's no sign of Telstra's pricing for the new Google handsets, but at that outright pricing you can expect some fairly solid handset repayment costs when they do announce plan pricing.

We'll update as soon as Telstra makes an official announcement, but for right now all you can do is express interest over at Telstra's web site in the new handsets, although Telstra has announced that customers will get a free Google Home Mini with any contract pre-order, the same as any outright Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL buyer.
