Telstra picks up low-cost Huawei P8 Lite

A low-cost Android option for Telstra contract customers.
Telstra has added the Huawei P8 Lite to the range of phones it offers contract customers, with the added hook of a free Huawei Smartband for fitness tracking purposes.
As the Lite name suggests, the Huawei P8 Lite isn’t a premium device, sitting instead in the mid-range of current Android devices. Here’s a quick specifications rundown:
Huawei | P8 Lite |
---|---|
Screen size | 5in |
Resolution | 1280x720 |
Display density | 294ppi |
Storage | 16GB |
Weight | 131g |
Processor | Hisilicon Kirin 620 CPU Octa-core 1.2GHz |
Rear camera | 13MP |
Front camera | 5MP |
Battery | 2200mAh |
In other words, it's not a fancy handset, but for basic use it's a very acceptable Android device.
Telstra’s plans for the Huawei P8 Lite don’t attract any additional handset repayments at any level, and as an added bonus, it’s offering a fitness tracking Huawei Smartband and a single free screen replacement in the first 12 months of the contract, excluding water damage. All up, quite a nice deal.
