Tarte's new Face Tape foundation features 50 shades with five different undertones and we're completely impressed.

The beauty community is abuzz with some insane news this morning. Tarte Cosmetics has decided to completely scrap the original Shape Tape Foundation and start over. This is something we've seen very few times in the beauty community but we think it is amazing that the brand thinks and knows they can bo better.

The change comes after the original Shape Tape concealer copped a lot of backlash for the 15 shade range and non-impressive formula. They did later introduce 10 new shades but the damage had been done.

What is the formula?

You can expect this foundation to be just as full-coverage as the Shape Tape concealer. It has a matte finish and is filled with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and snow mushroom extract for the most comfortable wear. What's even better is that this foundation is being made in the same manufacturing facility as the concealer!

On top of all that, the formula is also waterproof, transfer proof and sweat proof so you know it's going to last all day.

How many shades are there?

The new foundation comes in a whopping 50 shades and if that isn't impressive we simply don't know what is. Tarte stated that the production of these shades was incredibly important as they wanted to make up for underrepresenting their customers with the original 15 shade range from the Shape Tape foundation.

Not only is there 50 shades but five separate undertones including beige (pink), sand (yellow), neutral, honey (peach) and golden. According to Tarte Cosmetics, the shade selection is inspired by real people and the comments from social media, proving that Tarte really listened to what the customers wanted.

What else is different?

The packaging itself is completely different. The bottle now looks incredibly similar to the Shape Tape concealer packaging with a purple-toned lid and clear bottle. They've also lost the doe-foot applicator as many customers found it unhygienic and have replaced it with a pump for easy application.

This time around, there is only one formula. There was previously a hydrating formula and matte formula but it seems as though this time they've been joined to create the ultimate foundation.

When and where can you shop the collection?

The Tarte Cosmetics Face Tape foundation will launch online on the 17 February. That's less than two weeks till you can try out this brand new product.

Australians can purchase it directly from Tarte Cosmetics where you can also sign up to get first dibs on the new foundation.
