Discounted flights to seven destinations in New Zealand.

In the latest Jetstar sale, trans-Tasman flights are now available from just $196 return.

Sample fares in the new offering from the budget airline include flights to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch from Melbourne for $196 return, or from Sydney or Gold Coast for $200 return.

Comparatively, Virgin Australia (which code shares and offers similar pricing to Air New Zealand) is offering one-way fares starting at much higher prices, including Melbourne to Christchurch for $254 each way.

Travel on the Jetstar dates vary slightly between destinations, but most are available from 24 October until 20 June.

As usual with Jetstar sales, extras like checked baggage, in-flight entertainment and meals are not included in the fare price, but can be added on for an additional price.

While the travel dates just miss the end of the South Island’s ski season, you may get lucky with booking flights toward the end, as this year resorts like Mt Hutt, Cardrona and Coronet Peak opened as early as the 10th and 11th of June.

Jetstar’s Tasman Sale ends at 11:59pm on 26 September, unless fares sell out earlier.
