Jog through Central Park, cruise to the Statue of Liberty and eat pizza until sunrise.

Virgin Australia is taking you to the Big Apple to experience the American summer for under $1,200 return from all across Australia.

Departures from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney are all available from just $1,199 return per person, with flights from Perth and Adelaide also available for under $1,300 return.

Being a full service airline, in-flight meals and entertainment as well as a generous checked-luggage allowance are included in your fare.

Travel is available from 17 January - 28 June 2018 as well as peak summer dates from 13 July - 20 September 2018.

You've until midnight 3 January to book your flight, though if you're eyeing those high season dates you'd best get in early before someone else takes your seat.

All flights can be booked through Flight Centre or via the links below.

How good are these fares?

Fares to NYC can fall down to the $800s when you're flying off-peak and on a less appealing airline such as Air China. Even on American Airlines you're looking at paying just shy of $1,000 return for off-peak flights.

For the chance to travel during summer and on a full-service Australian carrier, these fares might not be budget-friendly but they're still a bargain in our eyes for the experience both in-flight and while on holiday. You can also rack up Virgin Velocity Points on your journey - which you can put toward a future trip elsewhere.
