F1 TV Australia: Price, content, features and more

F1 TV in Australia is a way to enhance your live viewing experience, but it has limitations.

F1 TV is a digital streaming platform run by Formula 1 that can help get you inside the pit lane and access loads of real-time data and historical content. However, what you can access on F1 TV differs depending on whether or not you have access to another subscription service.

How much does F1 TV cost in Australia?

In Australia, access to F1 TV is split in 2 different ways.

If you want access to F1 TV Pro, which offers viewing of the races live, you need to have an eligible Foxtel Sports subscription. A Sports HD pack with Foxtel iQ costs $100 a month. If you have that with either an iQ4 or iQ5 set-top box, you will receive an F1 TV Pro subscription at no extra cost.

If you don't have a Foxtel subscription, you can only subscribe to F1 TV Access in Australia. It costs $4.49 a month or $34.99 for yearly access. However, keep in mind this doesn't offer live streaming of F1 races.

Does F1 TV have a free trial?

No. F1 TV claims free trials are usually available twice a year, but there is not one permanently. The service recommends keeping an eye out for updates in March and August each year about free trials.

What content is on F1 TV in Australia?

If you have access to F1 TV Pro with your Foxtel iQ subscription, then you get multiple live in-race feeds and live timing data for races, plus highlights and exclusive programming.

For F1 TV Access subscriptions in Australia, you only get live leaderboard race data, real-time telemetry, best clips of team radio, live driver maps and tyre usage history. It also features exclusive documentaries and more than 650 races from the F1 archives. You can't view the current season's race replays in Australia on F1 TV Access, although there is the race archive if you want to watch older races.

  • Good to know. In Australia, you also need a Foxtel subscription to access F1 TV Pro and watch live F1 races.

How can I sign up to F1 TV?

Signing up is simple. Head to the official website, choose whether you want to subscribe monthly or annually to F1 TV Access and click on the respective "Subscribe now" button. You will then need to create an account and enter your details and you are off and racing. If you have a Foxtel account, you can activate your F1 TV Pro subscription by heading to the same place and creating an F1 account if you don't already have one.

F1 TV devices

To access Live Timing through the F1 TV app or with F1 TV Access or on the web, you can use:

  • PCs and Macs
  • iPad
  • Selected iPhone, Samsung, Huawei and Google Pixel mobiles

Otherwise, if you have a Foxtel subscription and have activated your F1 TV Pro account, the F1 TV app is integrated into iQ4 and iQ5 set-top boxes.

Is F1 TV Pro on Foxtel?

Ahead of the 2023 F1 Melbourne Grand Prix, F1 TV Pro finally launched in Australia on Foxtel. To access it, you need to have a Foxtel iQ subscription, an iQ4 or iQ5 set-top box and an F1 account to activate your F1 TV Pro subscription.

Should I get F1 TV?

If you're an F1 fan, F1 TV Access can definitely enhance your viewing experience of racing with all the stats and data available. But to get the full F1 TV Pro access to watch live races as part of the experience, you need a Foxtel iQ subscription.

If you're only a casual F1 viewer and only want to watch live races and aren't that fussed about statistics, then you can just subscribe to either Foxtel Now or Kayo. You can find out more in our guide to watching Formula 1 live.
