American Horror Story 1984

Plus plenty of high-stakes spycraft to excite and intrigue.

There's never a dull moment in the streaming world these days, and this week is no exception.

Starting with Netflix, we see the return of Disenchantment, the adult-oriented animated series from the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama. The first ten episodes of the series ended on quite the cliffhanger, leaving poor Elfo's fate up in the air and Bean's mother's allegiances in question. This new batch of episodes should hopefully resolve many of the unanswered questions while delivering plenty of Matt Groening's trademark wit.

Foxtel's heavy-hitter this week couldn't be more different. American Horror Story: 1984, the ninth season of the acclaimed horror anthology series, heads back to the lycra-obsessed 80s for more murder and misery. This season pays homage to the classics of the era, with trailers carrying vibes of Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Shifting genres yet again, Amazon Prime Video brings the new action-drama series The Family Man to its subscribers this week. Created in India, the series follows an agent working for the National Investigation Agency as he attempts to balance the challenges of defending his country while hiding his dangerous career from his friends and family.

Last but not least, SBS On Demand joins the spycraft game with Whiskey Cavalier. Part comedy, part drama, the show centres on a group of cross-agency international spies who save the world through high-stakes action, sharp wit and even a little romance.

As always, there are plenty of other TV shows and movies hitting Aussie streaming services this week, so take a look below for all our top picks.
