Where to stream every 2016 Emmy-nominated TV series in Australia

Brodie Fogg 20 September 2016

The annual Primetime Emmy Award winners have been announced. Here's where to catch them on Australian streaming services.

Another year, another Emmys. This year will be remembered for Game of Thrones' record-breaking achievements and the Stranger Things kids' unrivalled swagger. Here's every winner this year and where to stream them in Australia.

Check out our guide below to find out where you can stream the best of the best today.

Outstanding Drama Series: Game of Thrones (HBO)

HBO's record-breaking fantasy series seriously cleaned up at the 2016 Emmys, winning Best Drama, Best Writing and Best Directing. Throne's sixth season kicked off where five left off, with yet another dead protagonist. From there we saw more dragons, blood-magic and revenge than ever before. While nothing truly eclipsed the epic showdown at Hardhome from the previous season, Season 6 saw some big, bold and absolutely horrifying moves from Westeros' most power-hungry players. A well-deserved win for all involved.

Outstanding Comedy Series: Veep (HBO)

For the second year in a row, HBO's Veep has taken out the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Season 5 of Veep follows the upward trend set by Season 4, seemingly out to bury that old second album curse that kills off great comedies. Season 5 of Veep saw Selina Meyer continue her presidential campaign, as usual Meyer becomes a victim of circumstance with one bungle after another and with the help of her staff uses every trick in the book to sway voter opinion.

Veep's driving force, Julia Louis-Dreyfus also took home the award for most outstanding actress.

Outstanding mini-series or movie: The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story

2016 saw the first entry to Ryan Murphy's (American Horror Story, Nip/Tuck) crime anthology series, The People v. O.J. Simpson. Based off Jeffrey Tobin's book The Run of His Life, American Crime Story's first series details the scandal and drama behind the most publicised trial in U.S. history. The People v. O.J. Simpson received widespread praise thanks to its main cast, notably Courtney B. Vance as defence lawyer Johnnie Cochran and AHS's Sarah Paulson as head prosecutor Marcia Clark.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Tatiana Maslany, “Orphan Black”

After years of injustice and picketing fans, Orphan Black's leading clone(s) Tatiana Maslany has finally been awarded for her stellar performance in the popular sci-fi series with the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award.

Maslany juggles not one but seven roles as a group of clones on the hunt for answers.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Rami Malek, "Elliot Alderson"

Mr. Robot - Season 2

Mr. Robot has really come out on top this year. Not only has it managed to top the insanity from the first season, it has engaged fans with an ongoing Alternate Reality Game (ARG) and introduced audiences to the stellar acting chops of Grace Gummer. But at its core, Mr. Robot's success rests on the shoulders of Rami Malek's hypnotic portrayal of tortured hacker Elliot Alderson. This year, Malek was rightfully rewarded with the award for most Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series: Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, "Selina Meyer"

Though Armando Iannucci's (The Thick of It) snappy writing has a lot to do with Veep's Emmy win, a huge part of its success has to be attributed to its main character Selina Meyer and actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Louis-Dreyfus continues to bring the laughs year after year and has been appropriately awarded with the Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series: Jeffrey Tambor, "Maura Pfefferman"

After missing out on a win last year, Jeffrey Tambor took out the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series at this year's Emmy Awards. Though Tambor might be instantly recognisable as the patriarch of the Blume family, it's his role as recently transitioned Maura Pfefferman in Transparent that has consistently earned critical praise since the show's debut in 2014.
