STARZPLAY is now Lionsgate Plus in Australia: What you need to know
Streaming service has rebranded in Australia.
The streaming service formerly known as STARZPLAY has changed its name to Lionsgate Plus in Australia.
If you've been browsing Prime Video Channels lately looking for new entertainment options, you might have noticed the appearance of Lionsgate Plus
But it's not, however, a new Prime Video channel, it's part of a global rebrand of STARZPLAY.
The service will continue to deliver STARZ original series and a varied collection of movies under the new name.
Why did STARZPLAY change its name to Lionsgate Plus?
To put it simply, for brand recognition and uniformity.
This is similar to 10 All Access rebranding as Paramount Plus in Australia: so that the service has the same name worldwide.
Additionally, not a lot of consumers might be familiar with the STARZ brand outside the US.
Meanwhile Lionsgate is a huge entertainment company known for popular movie franchises like The Hunger Games, John Wick, Divergent, Saw, Rambo, Now You See Me and The Twilight Saga.
"Operating under LIONSGATE+ internationally brings a distinct and differentiated identity in an increasingly crowded international marketplace and builds on the brand equity in the Lionsgate name that our extensive research has proven is strong around the world," Jeffrey Hirsch, president and CEO of STARZ said in a statement.
How to get Lionsgate Plus in Australia
Lionsgate Plus isn't available as a standalone service in Australia, but you can get it though Prime Video Channels.
You need an active Prime Video subscription to do so.

Once your free 30 days are up, Amazon Prime costs $6.99 a month.
Lionsgate Plus is currently priced at $3.99 a month.
If you add it for the first time, you get a 7-day free trial.
That means to stream Lionsgate Plus in Australia, it will cost a total of $10.98 a month.
What can I watch on Lionsgate Plus?
Lionsgate Plus hosts both TV shows and movies, but has a much smaller library compared to major international streaming services such as Netflix or Disney Plus.
However, it's worth noting that the service doesn't currently stream some of STARZ's biggest hits in Australia due to existing licensing deals.
As a result, you won't be able to watch some STARZ titles like Outlander or Gaslit on Lionsgate Plus here.
The Lionsgate Plus library features some STARZ series, as well as Lionsgate films and content from other providers.
Highlights on Lionsgate Plus in Australia include Power, Blue Mountain State, Now You See Me, Party Down, Black Sails, Requiem For a Dream, Drag Me to Hell, Halloween, The Royals and The White Princess.

I clicked on box for free trial for 30 days. It said after 30 days I would pay $6.99. When I tried to sign for this deal I was told I would be pay ing $9.99 straight away. Please help me understand

As for why you were charged straight away, maybe you have already used a Prime free trial. They only offer a free trial to you on the first time you join Prime, not if you cancel and happen to rejoin again. But you’d have to contact Prime direct to see why you were told you were paying straight away and you weren’t getting a free trial.
