Star Wars x adidas basketball collection: First look and release date
The force will definitely be with you whenever you wear a pair of these sneakers on the court.
With the premiere of The Rise of Skywalker now less than two months away, we're about to see the drop of some truly epic Star Wars merch. Never one to miss out on a good pop culture collaboration, adidas has already got a head start on the fun, now revealing a new line of basketball kicks inspired by the saga.
The Star Wars capsule will see the arrival of six Hoops silhouettes, with each design a homage to an iconic part of the franchise. The shoes range from adidas Basketball classics to the signature sneakers worn by NBA superstars, with silhouettes like the Dame 5, Harden Vol. 4, D.O.N. Issue #1, Crazy 1 and Pro Next all making an appearance.
All of the themed kicks are scheduled for US release on 1 November, meaning that we should see them land here in Australia shortly after. When they do drop, you'll likely be able to shop them first from the Australian adidas site as well as from usual adidas stockists like JD Sports.
You can take a closer look at the line below:
Two iterations of the Pro Next will be up for grabs, with each one representing the Light Side and the Dark Side respectively.
A pair of Crazy 1 sneakers dubbed Sith Order feature a black vinyl upper paired with red accents reminiscent of the lightsabers of the Sith. The shoes also feature the Galactic Republic insignia on the tongue tab and a metal Star Wars logo beneath the laces.
The Harden Vol. 4 silhouette is reimagined in a purple colourway that likely pays tribute to Jedi Master Mace Windu. Windu was the only character to ever wield a purple lightsaber in the canon, making the pair a likely homage.
Judge them by their size, do you? This pair of kids Dame 5s are a likely nod to our favourite miniature Jedi Master, Yoda, and the green lightsaber he wields. Of course, the lime green lightsaber also represents a number of other famous Jedi including Luke Skywalker and Qui-Gon Jinn, but as they are for the little ones, we quite like the Yoda theory.
A final pair of kicks arrives in the form of a blue and black pair of D.O.N. Issues. No guesses here about what they represent, with electric blue marking the official colourway of the Light Side.
The Star Wars basketball capsule follows the news of another adidas collection, which will see three Star Wars-inspired Ultra Boost silhouettes arrive just in time for the film's release.
Cult-favourite denim brand Levi's has also just released an entire Star Wars-themed apparel line which includes graphic tees, accessories and some truly standout denim jackets.
The Rise of Skywalker is in cinemas on 19 December.
