Star Wars game show announced: Jedi Temple Challenge

Star Wars is making a game show, that'll train young padawans to become Jedi Masters.
Star Wars has awakened. The empire that is Disney has striked back at Netflix. We've used up all our puns now, so here's the real news. Star Wars is developing its first ever game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.
Young padawans will have their abilities tested in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge and bravery as they take on challenges and overcome obstacles to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight.
Jedi Temple Challenge was formally announced this morning on the Star Wars website. The show is set to be hosted by Ahmed Best, who will act as a Jedi Master and mentor to the young padawans.
Ahmed Best, does that name ring a bell? Well it should, especially for true Star Wars fans. Best was the actor who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels.
Star Wars Jedi Temple Challenge will be shown exclusively on Disney+ joining the rest of the franchise.
When will Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge be released?
During the announcement a key piece of information was withheld, that being the release date of the show. Jedi Temple Challenge joins a future release list for Disney that includes miniseries Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Lucasfilm's senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capofferri gave some hints to what we can expect on the show. Padawans' connections to the force will be tested in three locations "a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser and inside a Jedi temple".
Star Wars on Disney+
A key reason for Disney launching its own streaming service was so that it could dive deeper into content for existing franchises. No longer do they have to rely on a TV network picking up a series or an expensive movie release.
They can now simply keep it all in house and maintain entire control. We've already seen a Marvel movie for superhero Falcon slated for the cinemas, but since pulled to turn into a TV series.
The Mandalorian is the first of the Star Wars originals on Disney+ so far and has been well received globally. Currently the weekly series is ranking as the best show in Disney's history.
Baby Yoda looks set to be the next Tickle Me Elmo too, once merchandise eventually arrives. The co-star of The Mandalorian has become the new hottest meme worldwide.
Disney+ is available in Australia as a monthly subscription costing $8.99 a month or annually for $89.99 a year. New subscribers are able to start watching for free courtesy of a free 7-day trial.
