adidas x Star Wars Stan Smith

Celebrating 40 years of The Empire Strikes Back, these Skywalker Stan Smiths are the perfect footwear choice for Rebel Scum.

Forty years ago, George Lucas gifted us with one of the most iconic movie scenes of all time – the moment when Luke Skywalker finds out that Darth Vader is his father. Years later, you'll still find movie buffs everywhere dramatically quoting, "No, I am your father", making the plot twist one of the worst kept secrets of all time.

Now, in celebration of the monumental on-screen moment, adidas has announced that it will be continuing its run of kicks inspired by the saga. The sportswear giant is set to launch a new Skywalker Stan Smith iteration from a galaxy far, far away in just four days' time.

Release date: 24 July 2020 (US release)

Price: US$120

Where to buy: adidas

Inspired by Skywalker's lightsaber, the Stan Smiths arrive in a stark white canvas upper accented with pops of electric blue. A 70s caricature of the Jedi adorns the tongue tab while the Rebel Alliance insignia features on the heel.

Coloured insoles meanwhile capture imagery from the film, while Luke's famous scream of "Nooooo!!!" is captured on the translucent outsole.

The kicks are also set to come with pins of R2-D2, Yoda, an X-Wing and a lightsaber, along with Star Wars lace dubraes.

While an Australian release date has not been announced, the themed sneakers are set to drop on the US adidas site on 24 July at 2pm. The pair will retail for US$120 and will come in a galaxy-themed box.

The release follows other Star Wars lines from the brand, including a range that was launched for the premiere of The Rise of Skywalker. Select styles from the collection are still available for sale at JD Sports and on the adidas site.
