309 episodes of Family Guy ditch Disney+ for Stan
Lucky there's a Family Guy... And now streaming 309 episodes on Stan.
When Disney+ launched in Australia last week among the notable absences was most of the Disney-owned 20th Century Fox library. Stan stayed ominously quiet in the middle of last week's streaming wars, but now has a seat at the table.
Everyone in the market had made new announcements except for Stan. It had looked like Stan was hurt the most from the Disney+ launch.
Now it has bounced back and will be the home of 16 seasons and 309 episodes of Family Guy. Welcome to the first real clash of Disney+ vs Stan.
This is the first time ever Family Guy will be available to stream in Australia. This is huge for Stan. During last week's chaos it only said its focus would be on Australian titles.
While this is great for the Australian entertainment industry, Aussie shows historically don't pull the same audience as The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and so on.
Family Guy isn't the only iconic TV series coming to Stan. Joining the Griffin Family are four other big new series including How I Met Your Mother, Grey's Anatomy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sons of Anarchy.
These huge American shows will complement several new Australian releases that continue on Stan in December. Stan also has other big names in Friends, Parks and Recreation and The Office.
Each show alone is a big franchise but in this case Family Guy is the headliner. One of Disney's biggest drawcards was The Simpsons, so now the two animated families will create a tug-o-war between the streaming services.
How I Met Your Mother
One of the biggest shows of the entire 2000s, How I Met Your Mother is loved by many. Now you can stream all seasons and watch Ted, Barney, Robin, Marshall and Lily telling stories from their favourite bar, MacLaren's.
Binge on nine seasons, watching all of Ted's love interests and finally found out who the mother is.
Sons of Anarchy
Jax Teller: most men want to be him and the ladies love the bad boy biker. The show is full of sex, drugs and motorbikes, but that never halted its huge popularity. All seven seasons of the biker gang are now on Stan.
Hearts across Australia are set to melt or maybe even stop now that they have McDreamy back in their lives. Luckily you might learn some CPR once you see the drama unfold in Seattle Grace Hospital.
Not all of Grey's Anatomy has made its way over to Stan and there'll be 13 out of 16 seasons available. Interestingly Grey's Anatomy also now falls under Disney's ownership.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will now finally be able to catch Sarah Michele-Gellar in her most iconic role to date. All seven seasons of the vampire classic landed on Stan.
