Expert review

The St.George Amplify Signature is a top-tier rewards card that gives you up to 200,000 bonus points, with potential rewards including $900 worth of eGift cards or 100,000 frequent flyer points. But to earn all the points, you’d need to spend $12,000 per year (around $1,000 per month on everyday purchases) for the first 2 years.

How to apply

You can apply for the St.George Amplify Signature Credit Card online in around 10 minutes. Get started by checking that you meet the following eligibility criteria and have all the documents and details you will need for the application.

Eligibility criteria

  • New cardholder. To take advantage of the bonus point offer on this card, you must not currently hold an Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature Credit Card from Bank of Melbourne, St.George or BankSA. You also must not have held any of these accounts within the past 12 months.
  • Residency. To apply online, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Card benefits

  • Up to 200,000 bonus Amplify points. If you're a new Amplify cardholder, you can get 100,000 bonus Amplify Points in the first year plus another 100,000 bonus points in the second year (total of 200,000 points) when you spend at least $12,000 on eligible purchases each year. Offer ends on 24 February 2022. To give you an idea of your rewards potential, you could also redeem them for $850 worth of WISH eGift cards (193,800 Amplify Points).
  • Balance transfer offer. You can pay off existing debt and save with 0% p.a. interest on balance transfers for the first 24 months (with a one-time 1% balance transfer fee). At the end of the promotional period, any remaining debt from the balance transfer will attract the cash advance interest rate.

Rates & fees

  • Annual fee. This card charges a standard annual fee of $279 p.a.
  • Interest rates. The variable interest rate for purchases is 19.49% p.a., while the cash advance rate is 21.49% p.a.

      Hi Louise,

Thank you for reaching out to finder.

The $0 annual fee is a promotion provided until December 17,2018 if you go though the finder page for the application. Please click on the “Go to site” button to see that the $0 annual fee for the first year applies for this promotion. Hope this helps!

What are the eligible purchases on this card

      Hi Ingrid,

Thanks for leaving a question on finder.

Eligible purchases are generally defined as everyday purchases which involve the exchange of a good or service for a payment. Transactions that do not qualify as eligible purchases generally include business expenses, gambling transactions, balance transfers, BPAY payments and cash advances. Please note that existing St. George/BankSA/Bank of Melbourne customers who currently hold an Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

There is a current promotion of reduced first year annual fee to $139 for St George Amplify Signature but not with the Bank of Melbourne Amplify Signature (which is essentially the same card). I live in Melbourne. Am I still eligible to apply for the St George one to benefit from the promotion?

If I apply do I click the joint account option to get an extra card for my wife or is there an option in the single account process for an extra card? Thanks

      Hi Brett,

Thanks for getting in touch with finder.

The two options you mentioned are both viable. To help you decide which is the right one for you, let me explain your options.

If you want your wife to be a joint holder with equal right of use of the card, plus equal obligation for card repayment, you could click on the ‘Joint account’ tab on the very first page of the card’s application form to add her in the form.

If you want your wife to be able to use the card as an additional cardholder, then you may apply through ‘Single account’. Once the card is approved and arrives, you can then add your wife as an additional cardholder through a pdf form.

In each of these 2 cases, you will have 2 cards under the same credit card account.

I hope this helps. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us out again.

      Have a wonderful day!
